Local landholders joined Banksia Coast and Hinterland Landcare for a practical small farms field day focused on soil cover, habitat, and productive landscape planning.
The session explored how modest changes, including pollinator strips, shelterbelts, and better ground cover, can improve biodiversity while still fitting real farm operations.
Lessons from the day
Participants discussed site preparation, maintenance, species selection, and how to connect small plantings with existing dams, fence lines, creek lines, and remnant vegetation.
Next steps
The group will use feedback from the field day to shape future demonstration sites and short practical resources for local small farms.
