Participate
Take part through local events, projects, workshops, and groups. Whether you are learning, lending a hand, joining a field day, or connecting with neighbours, participation is a practical first step into Landcare.

Participation is often the easiest way for people to begin their Landcare journey. It gives community members a practical way to learn, meet others, see local projects in action, and understand how they can contribute at a level that suits their time and interests.
People may participate by coming to an event, joining a field day, attending a workshop, connecting with a local group, helping with a project, or simply learning more about the places and issues that matter locally.
Ways to take part
- Attend a field day, workshop, walk, talk, or community information session.
- Join a project activity such as planting, monitoring, weed control, habitat repair, or practical site care.
- Connect with a local group that matches your place, interests, age, skills, or availability.
- Share local knowledge, photos, observations, skills, equipment, or experience.
A good first step
You do not need to know everything before getting involved. Many Landcare activities are designed so people can learn by doing, ask questions, and build confidence over time.
If you are unsure where to start, look for an upcoming event, project update, or local group that feels close to your place or interests.
